Guidelines for useful annotation.
Annotated works when people add context, credit sources and disagree with the idea rather than attacking the person.
Add real perspective
Explain why a capture matters. Do not publish a source excerpt on its own, mass-post low-effort summaries, or use annotations primarily as advertising.
Keep the source intact
Link to the original page, quote accurately and do not alter screenshots in a misleading way. Keep excerpts proportionate to your commentary and respect paywalls, copyright and platform terms.
Discuss people with care
No harassment, threats, hate speech, doxxing, impersonation or targeted abuse. Criticism should address public claims and work, not expose private information.
Share lawfully
Do not post or link to illegal material, exploitation content, non-consensual intimate material, fraud, malware, illegal goods or services, or content that unlawfully infringes another person’s rights. Do not reshare content that has been removed or use Annotated to direct others to it.
Challenge and report
Rights holders and represented parties can file a claim from an annotation page. Other illegal or prohibited content can be reported to website@4vor4.com with the annotation URL and supporting information. We may limit visibility or remove content while a report is reviewed. Repeated or severe violations may lead to account removal.
